The NKY College & Career Network

The NKY College & Career Network is a partnership between NaviGo, The Northern Kentucky  Cooperative for Educational Services (NKCES) and GROW NKY to provide meaningful work based learning (WBL) experiences for local high school students.

Serving 21 school districts and focused on local in-demand sectors, the NKY College & Career Connector leads this work, connecting schools & students with local businesses and post-secondary providers for the purpose of WBL experiences and dual-enrollment opportunities such as apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, internships, co-ops, clinicals and training hubs, while also developing talent pipelines within the schools for our business partners.

As a direct result of this work, an online platform has been developed to house all these WBL opportunities and permit students and educators to connect directly with businesses to avail of these experiences.  Lead by the NKY College & Career Connector, MyCareerE3 was launched in January 2021 with four user-types: businesses, community partners, educators and students, and the Connector manages the platform, and provides user training and ongoing technical assistance as needed.

The River Cities Network

The River Cities Network is a partnership between NaviGo, the 6 River Cities school districts of Bellevue, Covington, Dayton, Erlanger/Elsmere, Ludlow and Newport, Gateway Community & Technical College, and business and community partners.

Launched in 2018 and lead by NaviGo, the network meets monthly to plan for training, dual-enrollment, and work-based learning (WBL) opportunities for students (many of whom are low-income), with a focus on local in-demand sectors.  Currently, students can dual-enroll with Gateway’s Healthcare, Logistics/Supply Chain, Information Technology or Advanced Manufacturing training hubs, along with a Skilled Trades hub that is housed at one of the participating schools.  Students will earn both high school and college credit, along with industry-recognized credentials, and will also complete Employability (Soft) Skills training and WBL experiences such as co-ops, internships, site visits and apprenticeships. Students may also receive wraparound support when needed and can avail of NaviGo Services such as in-school coaching, YouScience (an aptitude and interest assessment) and NaviGo STAR (Supporting Transition, Access and Retention) for college-bound students.

“I am delighted by the results of our initial four meetings with NaviGo over the summer. My daughter has really taken to the process, has begun setting goals on her own, and is reminding me of things that need to get done, rather than me doing the reminding. She appreciates the relevance of long-term thinking and feels empowered by the process. I would highly recommend NaviGo. They are knowledgeable, reasonable, and help us get focused on the real goals of education. I wish I had done this with my first child.”
